This is a utility to (re)set the password of any user that has a valid (local) account on your NT system.
You do not need to know the old password to set a new one.
It works offline, that is, you have to shutdown your computer and boot off a floppydisk or CD. The bootdisk includes stuff to access NTFS and FAT/FAT32 partitions and scripts to glue the whole thing together.

Adding Background Image to USB Drive Window

Recently I checked my friend’s new USB drive that he had bought few days back. I noticed that when I browsed into its file directory, the window had a custom background which came with the drive itself. I was wondering if we could do so for any other drive. And the answer was yes, we can! Here’s how it’s done:




  • Firstly, open notepad and copy the following code:

  • In the above code you need to replace ‘background image’ with the actual file name of the actual image file name. For instance, ‘flowered.jpg’.

  • Now, save it as “desktop.ini” without the quotes.

  • Place the “desktop.ini” file and your image file in your USB drive. You can hide the files if you want so that they won’t get deleted accidently.

  • Refresh or re-plug your USB device to see the new background for your USB drive window.

How to Hack XP Account Password?

I think this has to be one of the most amazing tricks I have learned till date coz it really works like a charm. With this you can easily hack anybody’s XP operated PC by Logging into their User profile and actually changing their password. You can also use this trick in case you forget your own password. But make sure not to misuse it.



Hacking Windows XP Account Password - How to Change Windows Account Login Password You Forgot



1. Restart you computer

2. When booting, press F8 and select "Safe Mode".

3. After getting to the User (Administrator) menu. Click on a user and this time it will not ask you for a password.

4. Go to Start>Run and type CMD .

5. At command prompt type in cd C:WindowsSystem32, (Where C put your system's HD letter,I am assuming C is your System/Windows Drive)

6. For safety purposes first make a backup of your Logon.Scr file.. You can do this by typing in Copy Logon.scr Logon.bak

7. Then type copy CMD.EXE Logon.scr

8. Then type this command in step 9, I will assume that you want to set Administrator's password to NewPass

9. Now, type this in net user administrator NewPass

10. You will get a message saying that it was successful, this means Administrator's new password is NewPass

11. Restart the PC and you will login as Administrator (or whatever you chose to reset) with your chosen password

How to find serial key from the xp setup cd?


Have you lost your Windows CD Key and are desperately looking for it? No backups, nothing. What do you do now? Well till you have your Original installation you can easily find the Product key without breaking a sweat.

Here are the simple steps you need to perform in order to get your Product Key from the installation CD.



I have only tried it on a XP Professional CD, but it should work for the Home and OEM versions of Windows XP from restore disks.

How-To: Find Windows XP Product Key from the Windows XP CD:

1) Insert Windows XP cd into a working computer.
2) Exit the Autorun introduction.
3) Open “My Computer”
4) Right Click on the Windows XP cd-rom drive and select explore.
5) Open the USWXP32P_ZX folder. (It may be as a hidden folder. If you cannot locate the folder, you may also search for unattend.txt and mark “Search Hidden Files”.)
6) Open the sysprep folder.
7) Open unattend.txt

Your CD’s product key is contained within the unattend.txt file.

How to Enable Hibernation option in WinXP


Whenever you want to logoff, shut down or reboot your Windows XP machine you have only 3 choices
(1) Standby ONLY IF the ACPI/APM function is properly enabled BOTH in your motherboard's BIOS AND in WinXP!
(2) Restart
(3) Shutdown.



To properly enable Hibernation in WinXP:

Start button -> Control Panel -> Power Options -> Hibernate tab -> check Enable hibernate support box -> Apply/OK -> reboot.

NOTE: If the Hibernate tab is unavailable your computer does NOT support it!
For some reason Microsoft did NOT enable the 4th option:
(4) Hibernate, which should be available on power saving (ACPI) enabled PCs and laptops.
But you CAN bring it back: just hold the Shift key while the Shut down menu is displayed on your screen, and notice the Standby button being replaced by a new, fully functional Hibernate button, which can be clicked with the left button of your mouse.

If you release the Shift key, the Hibernate option will disappear once again, to be replaced by Standby.

Rename your digital photos automatically in Windows XP

Unless you really have a lot of time on your hands, I doubt you want to go through the massive folder that contains your European vacation photos and rename them Europe_1.jpg, Europe_2.jpg, and so on down the line. If you're running Windows XP on your computer, you don't have to do this. Simply apply this hack to quickly apply a meaningful label to every picture in the folder.


  • First, open the folder and select View > Thumbnails.
  • Click the last picture in the folder you want to rename, hold down the Shift key, and click the first picture; this will select them all.
  • Right-click the first photo, and select Rename from the drop-down menu.
  • Windows XP will highlight the filename for the first photo, enabling you to give it a descriptive name.
  • After you type in the name, click the white space outside of the photo and watch as Windows applies the name with a sequential number to each picture in the folder.

  • Go to >> start menu , then select run and type “regedit”regedit
  • then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > System >CurrentControlSet > Control.
  • Look on the right and open waittokillapptimeout or waittokillservicetimeout (depends on which OS you are using) and in the values type 1000 (Which stands for 1 Sec) and press ok.
  • Now your pc will shutdown faster!

Actually, 1000 mean 1 second, so we change the value to increase the PC Shutdown Speed.
